In Cambodia, traditional and ancient practices are still widely performed, particularly in rural areas. When someone dies, various ceremonies mixing pagan rituals and religious Buddhist beliefs are offered by the family.

During these ceremonies, the body is cremated, the remains washed with coconut water, and finally taken to the Pagoda in one last ceremony to release the spirit. This ceremony will last for two days. Due to financial restraints, often families wait and  join others to provide their Dead with an honourable ceremony.

These are images of a funeral offered by four families. Some of them, had been waiting over a year to perform this ceremony.
